Your story matters. Each of us develops within a complex system of relational, societal and cultural influences. We are shaped and continually impacted by the interplay of both interpersonal (between you and others) and intrapersonal (within yourself) dynamics. This can be a lot to sort through and make sense of. Why go it alone?

I believe in the inner wisdom of my clients and the power of the therapeutic relationship to tap into that wisdom. To honor the individuality and unique experiences of each person, my approach to therapy is highly collaborative, compassionate and client-centered. Many of the clients I have worked with have endured some form of trauma. Trauma is a sweeping word that encompasses a wide spectrum of events–from the difficult to the downright devastating. Wherever your experiences fall on that spectrum, you will find in our work together a safe harbor to begin or continue to heal.

In tailoring the treatment I provide for each individual, I draw from the teachings and interventions of many theoretical traditions (family systems, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, narrative and feminist/liberation psychology). I have additional in-depth training in the following evidenced-based psychotherapeutic modalities: Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Processing of Trauma (CPT) and Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR).
Finally, my background as a counseling psychologist has cultivated in me a deep awareness of the role the social/political environment plays in contributing to mental health concerns. Frequent encounters (whether subtle or overt) with racism, sexism, heterosexism, genderism and other forms of discrimination impact people in profound ways. If you have experienced these types of traumas, my office and our relationship can be a safe space in which to work through the resulting emotional burdens.
